I talked to The Canadian Press / Global News about lululemon’s Olympic gear.

Here’s my hot take:

This Olympic collection feels noticeably more commercial than previous assortments. The color palette and silhouettes strike a balance between performance and everyday wear, making the product accessible not just to athletes, but to Lululemon’s broader customer base. While reviews have been mixed, the overall assortment is strong and positioned to benefit from the visibility and momentum that comes with Olympic exposure.

Where Lululemon truly differentiates is in material innovation. Performance-driven fabrics designed to withstand the rigors of elite athletic wear reinforce the brand’s credibility, and leaning further into that technical storytelling would strengthen the collection’s impact.

The one opportunity I see is at the entry price point. An accessible, high-demand item like a branded Olympic wool mitt could have generated significant fan excitement both at the Games and at home.
